what will happen to my programs if i install windows 8?
im running windows 7 on my computer and i have some applications that i installed online because my computer does not have a cd drive. i looked online that windows 8 gives you the option to upgrade or custom. it says under upgrade that it will keep all current files, settings and programs. is that true, i want to know because if i loose my programs, theirs no way i could possibly get them back and you cant backup programs. oh and does anyone want to buy my lenovo x200 series tablet (possibly running windows 8?) search it on ebay Blaketirad01996

How Backup works........?
How exactly does it work. If I have a 250gb main HDD filled with data (songs, movies, pics etc..) , will the backup file take up as much space or will it be smaller.
What about software, do those backup programs that come with external drives work better than the built in Mac or Windows backup?

What's the name of a backup program with filters?
I had something like this before, but I lost the thumb drive I had it on and can't remember what it was called. What I'm looking for is a(ny) program where I can tell it I to copy all pictures modified after january 1st 1940, or all documents modified this week with tax in the title, or something like that.
It'd be even better if you know of one that can do it as an auto-run, preferably without a window.
My boss remembered me using my old one to back up his files a while back, now he wants me to do it to the over 40 computers in the building on the one day of the month they aren't being used(closed) FML. Plus it's a handy thing to have around for personal use.
