free computer backup software?
I have just gone through hell my Computer went down and I lost everything, photos the lot. Its took me 3 weeks to get my computer back to normal life and cost 300 euros. Is there any FREE sotware out ther that can back up my computer to an external hard drive

Computer Backup Software?
Hello! I'm looking for recommendations on back up software. I do not need it to back up the complete hard drive. I want to be able to select certain folders and have it backed up on a external hard drive and/or cd. What would you recommend? I would like answers from people who have personal experience with the software and not a google search. Thanks

Computer Backup: Software or Hardware?
Here is my dilemma. I want to back up all of the stuff on various hard-drives. I have saved all of the hard-drives from old desktops that I threw away when I bought replacements. Now, I want to put all of the stuff on one DVD or one thumb-drive or something like that. The problem is, I am not sure whether I should back up stuff online or back it up myself on my hardware. Privacy and safety are both issues for me. Suppose the stuff gets intercepted while I am backing it up, online? My bank passwords and other stuff like that would be compromised. Also, if, at some point, the company went out of business or if I lost my job and could not pay for a couple of months, I could lose all of my data forever. On the other hand, I am not a computer engineer so I am not sure I would be able to do an excellent back-up job myself. Oh, and all of my stuff is personal -- no business information or information about other people (except photographs of my parents and friends and stuff like that). So, what should I do?
