What is the preferred backup medium?
I've backed up data on CDs and DVDs and had them fail over time. My understanding is that the dyes they use on these optical disks degrade over time, leaving you with a useless CD/DVD. Magnetic storage tends to persist much better. I want a data backup solution that can be expected to endure 10 years of climate-controlled storage. Something that can hook up to my PC, and not some spooled tape silliness. We're talking data on the order of a terabyte and randomly accessible. Are extra hard drives the best way to go or is there something better out there? Thanks, Adam S
