file recovery question for real computer expert?
Here is the situation. I think some kind of worm or virus caused my computer to crash. The only thing I could do was reinstall the xp home edition on my laptop. So this is a unique situation its not just deleted files I am trying to recover, its a word document that is somewhere on a hard drive that was reinstalled.
I have tried pc inspector, file scavenger etc. and these were all demos. They didnt work. I am thinking maybe i need to get the full version. please help. I am writing a book and what I wrote is so important that its one of a kind. Is there a way to retrieve files that were lost in a OS reinstall? If so How?
by the way I know it is there somewhere cause since re installation I have recovered other files. so i know those files can be found some how. I also heard that files are never really deleted but ignored. I am not daft about computers please help if u are a proffessional or if u know one direct me to them

Can any one help me decode word document i recovered with File Scavenger 3.1?
I recently deleted some microsoft word and excel work my mistake i have recovered the documents using File Scavenger 3.1. But, the information is all encoded and i dont know how to decode it to make my work readable?
