Should a business pay invoices or pay monthly statements only?
As a bookkeeper, every company I've worked for I've paid by invoice (there are those few exceptions that I match invoices with statements and once approved, pay the entire statement amount). My boss thinks I shouldn't pay from invoices but wait for statements. This seems strange to me and I always thought you should pay invoices. Especially since a lot of vendors do not send out statements and the due date is generated by the date of the invoice (example...net 30 means due 30 days from date of invoice). He and I got into a heated debate about it and we're both trying to get more information about it.

This guy is bugging is about .52 on an invoice and we need a new formula to recalculate in excel...?
here's the deal. i sent an invoice to a company to which he emailed me this morning that our calculations are wrong. we figured out the reason why is because of the two different ways we are getting to the final product. excel multiplies each cell continuously (c9*d9*g9). however, when done on a calculator (and in our accounting system) it is done c9*d9=###; ###*g9=amount. here is an example from the invoice: example 1 (excel) 30.49 (c9) * 2.97 (d9) * 31 (g9) = 2807.21 example 2 (ummm, non-excel?) c9 * d9 = 90.56; 90.56 * g9 = 2807.36 the discrepancy happens in the first calculation of example 1. when you follow with a second multiplication instead of an equals you get an un-rounded number (90.5553). whereas in example 2 you get 90.56. now finally for my question, is there a way in excel to calculate this to get the HIGHER number? yes i said higher. this guy is being a total prick because if we do it his way he's paying an extra .52. on top of that, he is telling us that OUR expenses for the project are .50 short as well...HOW THE #$%& DOES HE KNOW!!! all in all he's trying to pay an ADDITIONAL 1.02 from what we already billed. when i read his email this morning i was shaking my head like the farmer after ali g. left his farm, just held my head down and shook until my boss asked what was wrong.... i love ali g... do you? (the best answer might just depend on this lol)
