What is the best way to run programs from a secondary / recovered hard drive?
My laptop recently crashed. I salvaged the hard drive and connected it to my desktop using an IDE to USB cable. I have programs on the laptop hard drive (specifically Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc...) that I wish to continue to use, but no longer have the discs. When I try to run Photoshop, I get the message: "Could not complete your request because of missing or invalid personalization information." A casual search on yahoo brings two common responses - reinstall or check the registry. Reinstallation is not an option, as the discs did not survive several moves. The registry sounds like the way to go, but I think I am doing something wrong. When I run regedit and choose to Import Registry files, and I select the Photoshop Registry files from the Photoshop 7.0 folder, I get the message: "Photoshop.reg has been successfully entered into the registry." But I am still unable to run the program, and I get the original error message. Suggestions?
