sony vaio wont boot!?
I have a sony vaio that i purchased 2 years ago, it is a VPCCW, with windows 7 home/student edition. While working on a project for school, I was printing pictures out, and the battery died. I plugged it in, and turned it back on, and all i got was a black screen, but you could see the cursor. I restarted it several times and this is all I got. While panicking, I used the Sony Vaio recovery tools and did first the Restore C drive option. This did not work, so i restored the system back to Original settings. This worked, however when i booted my computer, after it updated all programs, and asked to restart. after the restart i got the same black screen with cursor again. so i restored it again. then during the restore it said that some software wasn't installed. it said to restart and try again. well, then it came up: operating system not found. Then i used my recovery discs, and did it again. it did the same "some software did not install correctly", like google, so i wasn't worried. Then, again, after updating everything, it asked to restart, and again, I did. Well, now 3 weeks later, nothing comes up. I cant get to the Vaio recovery center at all, I can get to the F8 menu, when I use safe mode/safe mode with command/safe mode with networking i get this reaction: loading windows files->the last command is listed as "classpnp.sys"->please wait->the it restarts->open "windows recovery error", then no matter which option i choose, either repair, or start windows normally, i get an "i/o error".(see message below) I get the same message if i try to just turn on the computer without using f8. If i try last known good boot point, debugging mode, disable automatic boot option, enable boot log, i get the same "recovery error" and eventually the i/o error. If i use the f12 option, it tells me media test failure, then it takes me to the same windows recovery error message, and eventually the i/o message. If i try to put in my recovery disk, it wont read, and if i put in my windows 7 disk, it freezes on " starting setup". Does anyone know of a way I can restore it, otherwise??
The i/o error message looks like this:
"Windows boot manager
windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer. this error can be cause by unplugging a removable storage device such as a usb while it was in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive, or cd rom drive that is failing. make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer. status: 0x00000e9. Info: and unexpected i/o error has occurred."
Only I never had a usb connected!
I called Sony, they want to charge me $50 to just run a diagnostics. But im afraid they will just end up telling me to take it in, which will cost me however much more. There must be a way to reset the thing without using a program right? like a sevret button? Or a sequence of buttons? Help!!!!
