how to recover lost data from a hard drive using a live cd and a free recovery tool?
i have big problems with my vista and my hard drive , I want to get back my data after the disk (c:\) got formated ,so I try to find a live cd or a bootable dvd which allows me to get back my data from the HD with a recovery tool How to do that ? PS my hard drive has vista installed but it failed to boot and run after a crash (a blue screen) occured I can use my cdrom reader so I think I can get back my lost data from a live cd but I dont know how to find an iso of a data recovery live cd Thanks for any tips and help

"Noob" Computer Virus Question? System Image?
So, my computer is kinda screwed right now, and I'm trying to fix it. So, they only thing I can do is use the command prompt, System Restore, Startup Repair (doesn't work), and Windows Memory Diagnostic. Also, I can go into BIOS setup utility, instant flash, I believe it's called, and boot priority. This is in Windows 7. So the system restore to an earlier point in time doesn't help. I've tried the three options it has presented me with, and none of them work. I know the virus is from a file I opened. The startup repair scans and then tells me that it can't fix it, and I should use advanced recovery tools or contact my administrator (It's my computer). I unfortunately don't have a system image, which is bad in retrospect. I was wondering if there was one I could download from somewhere, or are they all unique to the computer? I have a linux OS disk ready. So, is there a way I can wipe my hard drive from this state and then install a fresh linux OS? I've already tried setting the boot priorities to the disk and then re-installing it like that, but it doesn't work. Also, I know I've asked multiple questions about this, but they're all different, and I'm slowly making progress from step to step. I'm by no means trying to spam, just solve this problem. Also, I could care less about what happens to the data on the HD.

Installing individual programs from recovery disk?
I'm running vista and have "dragon 10" with it. I uninstalled it a while ago and want to put it back on. The only problem is that it's on the recovery disk. I don't want to fully re-install my whole system but if I put the disk in once fired up it just asks if I want to re-install windows recovery tool. So basicly does anyone know if there is a way to recover a single program from a rescue disk on the same PC it was made for with the same operating system, serials etc? There's no folder beyond the exe and a couple of other files. I had a feeling it couldn't be done but wanted to make sure I hadn't missed anything. Thanks people.
